Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Broccoli Pasta

You wouldn’t think Broccoli and Pasta would be a perfect fit but this recipe is a slightly spicy delicious Italian dish you didn’t know you needed.

Feel free to add more Red Pepper Flakes or Parmesan, as always, you cannot go wrong.

    • 1/2 Lb Italian Pork Sausage

    • 1/2 Lb Broccoli cut just below the floret and split apart to make little Broccolis

    • 1 Orange Bell Pepper cored, seeded, and julienned

    • 2 Cloves Garlic diced

    • 1 Tsp Fresh Thyme leaves

    • 1 Tbs Butter &

    • 2 Tbs Butter

    • Olive Oil

    • 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese grated

    • 1 Tbs Fresh Lemon Juice

    • 1 Tbs Red Pepper Flakes

    • 2 Tsp Italian Seasoning

    • 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream

    • GF Penne or other tube pasta of your choice

    • Salt

  1. This recipe is finished pretty quickly so it’s best to start the water a boiling for the Pasta with plenty of Salt at the same time you’re heating a large skillet to medium.

  2. Once the skillet’s hot, drop in the 1 Tbs of Butter and a little bit of Olive Oil and let it melt before dropping in the Italian Sausage. Cook all that Sausage goodness for about 8 minutes or until it’s browned and done and ready to be consumed. Then, scrape it out the skillet and place the Sausage pieces in a bowl.

  3. In that same large skillet throw in the 2 Tbs of Butter and a little bit more Olive Oil and let it melt before carefully dropping in the Broccolis and stir them around in the Butter, Oil, and Grease. Then immediately drop in the Bell Pepper slices and let it all soften for about 8 minutes making sure to stir occasionally. Also, sprinkle some Italian Seasoning on it.

  4. It’s now time to toss in the Garlic and the Thyme and let it all cook for about 3 minutes more while stirring.

  5. By now the Pasta should be finished so once it is, pour a 1/4 cup of the Pasta water into a measuring cup and set aside while you strain the Pasta.

  6. In the big skillet drop in the Sausage and the Sausage juices, the strained Pasta, the 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream, the 1/4 Cup Pasta water, the Lemon Juice, the Red Pepper Flakes, the Parmesan Cheese, and more Italian Seasoning and stir it all together vigorously for about 2 minutes on low heat. Now you’re done! Pour it all into a big bowl, sprinkle with more of whatever you desire, and enjoy.
