The absolutely beautiful Opéra Garnier (9th Arrondissement) was designed under the reign of Napoleon III and apparently, the inside is just as beautiful as the outside. I wouldn’t know, I’ve only walked by it but it truly is a fantastic representation of gorgeous architecture in the Baroque & Classical styles. It wouldn’t be finished until the 1870s, after the fall of the Empire. It contains a museum full of memorabilia and photographs.
I did not know this until creating this page, but this is the Opera where Gaston Leroux's 1910 Phantom of the Opera takes place.
Nearby: Petit Palais, Tuileries Garden (Jardin des Tuileries), The Louvre, Place Vendôme, Musée d’Orsay, Arc de Triomphe
