Fire Wave Hike

The 1.5 mile out-&-back roundtrip Fire Wave Hike in Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada in the American Southwest is an amazingly beautiful and awe-inspiring trail through the red, white, and pink sandstone very near Lake Mead. It is also part of a larger 1.8 mile hike known as the Fire Wave/Seven Wonders/Pink/Pastel Canyon Loop. The hike reminds the adventurer of the very famous Wave on the border of Utah & Arizona on the Colorado Plateau except this one doesn't require a permit.

It truly was an amazingly gorgeous and fun hike with constant beautiful views and geologic wonders. The sandstone bends and ripples in various colors and shapes across the landscape with mountains in the distance and coral pink sand in between the rocks.

My wife & I were fully prepared to do the entire loop but we overheard someone say not to finish it because it wasn’t nearly as interesting. Now, normally, we would not have believed them but ahead of us, a couple were blasting music from their phone as loud as they could which is absolutely mood and scenery ruining. PLEASE don’t be that awful person. Also, the sun was setting and we had one more hike to do.

I should mention that there was a note that said: “Fire Wave/Seven Wonders closed from June 1-September 30 due to high temperatures resulting in heat-related illnesses and fatalities.” So… people are absolutely stupid and they don’t bring enough water and they can’t walk or are too overweight and they have to be saved or they just die. Please don’t be a statistic. BRING WATER & don’t hike if you can’t walk.
