Arc de Triomphe

It’s always fun to walk around the crazy Arc de Triomphe (16th, 17th, & 8th Arrondissement). The reliefs of Napoleon conquering Europe are impressive and awesome but there are a ton of details and reliefs that cover the entire thing. It began construction in 1806 but didn’t finish until the 1830s.

I’ve never been up to the top but you can purchase a ticket to get up there and see the view. From the Arc, make sure to walk down the Champs Élysées and admire the wideness of the street (done by Napoleon’s democratically elected Nephew who later became Emperor Napoleon the III. He was sick of Parisians revolting, clogging streets with furniture and shooting National Guard troops so he widened the avenues. Problem solved (NOT)!).

Champs Élysées leads straight to Place de la Concorde, the Tuileries Gardens, and the Louvre.

Nearby: Parc Monceau, Pont Alexander III, Petit Palais, Place du Trocadero
