The Beauty of Nature
This page is dedicated to the often funny beauty of nature that can occur with rock formations all throughout the American Southwest from Oklahoma to Utah to California.
The King of Fantastic Rock formations is Kodachrome Basin State Park, just west of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and east of Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah in the American Southwest.
But really, my favorite place to see the beauty of nature in both forms (there are only two forms) is in Joshua Tree National Park in the Mojave Desert of Southern California.
Another wonderful Utah spot is the Little Egypt area just off of Highway 95 near the Henry Mountains. The place is a lot like Goblin Valley but with one exception: This Guy. And his little friend. Don’t make fun.
In Oklahoma, at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge you’ll find beautiful streams, mountains, plenty of wildlife, and lots of fun rock formations.
Back in Utah, on the Hole-in-the-Rock Road, in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, there’s a place called Devil’s Garden where you can find more fun rock spires.
A rather spectacular example of Nature’s Strength & Vitality is in Chiricahua National Monument in southeastern Arizona. This specimen is viewed easily on the Echo Canyon Loop Trail.
Then there’s the amazing drive that is the White Rim Road in Canyonlands National Park between the Needles and the Island in the Sky Districts that includes the Monument Basin within the drive.
Not even Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in Utah & Arizona can escape nature’s awe inspiring beauty.
Even under the earth, in the blackness of a cave, there is the strength and vitality of nature on full display. At Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico, you can see the grandest of displays. Quite a few of them, actually!
Also in Utah, is one of the greatest National Parks of all time, Arches National Park. That beautiful place also cannot escape nature’s loving hand.
Sedona, Arizona also has wonderful red sandstone rock formations ready to excite the viewer.
Even outside of the American Southwest like in places as far away as Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota there are examples of nature’s beauty. Especially on the Needles Trail in the Northern Unit of that state park.
Remember, no matter where you are in the American Southwest or its borderlands, always be on the lookout for “Nature’s Beauty.”
