Santa Fe National Forest

The Santa Fe National Forest is a sprawling and gorgeous National Forest that surrounds the old city of Santa Fe and spans from the Sangre de Christo Mountains in the east to the Jemez Mountains in the west.

The National Forest contains archaeological, geological, and natural wonders that are waiting to be explored and enjoyed. Be leery of forest fires, cautious of creatures, and respectful of the surrounding Pueblo and Res Lands while you’re in the amazing forest.

I once spent 5 days in the Española Ranger District north of the Valles Caldera in the Jemez Mountains during the Spring of 2020 for some isolation and relaxation. I only saw one vehicle pass by my beautiful little camp in those days as I hiked, enjoyed the solace, and spent time with my pup while the world imploded. It was perfect.
