Goblin Valley State Park

Goblin Valley State Park may be one of the most unique looking places I’ve ever been to in my life and I absolutely love it. There is no trail here, despite what the internet or State Park brochures will tell you. This place is meant to be explored at your own whims. So start walking and enjoy the view.

The Henry Mountains are to the south and they are so very beautiful sitting there just beyond the horizon.

The hoodoos (goblins) are unforgettable and it seems like each one has its own personality. It’s fun to assign them a shape and a name but a lot of them just look like the sculptures from Lydia Deetz’s mom ready to come alive for a creepy wedding or something.

If you adventure far back enough, and aren’t afraid to do a little climbing (without damaging the hoodoos), you can see beyond the park and onto the basin to the east.

But the most important thing to remember is to have fun and explore.

You’d be doing yourself a big disservice by not staying the night among the hoodoos and red walls though. The dark sky is truly visible at this out of the way place.
