Attractions Near Badlands

Surrounding Badlands National Park are quite a few exciting natural and man-made spots from the Creston Blue Dinosaur on the west side to the world famous Wall Drug in the north. To the east there’s the Cold War era Minutemen Missile Museum and in the south there’s lookouts and the old Tatanka Trading Post in Scenic.

Long before I ever stepped foot into South Dakota I had seen the bumper stickers for Wall Drug, but I never quite knew what it meant until doing research for my trip to the area. It was worth a stop though, once I’d arrived.

The Sage Creek Campground is a First-Come-First-Serve Campground with 22 spots on the western side of the Badlands Wilderness Area of the Park on Sage Creek Road. It is a fantastic campground that rings around a Prairie Dog Colony. It’s on a dirt road that can sometimes be impassible after a
